Description

Hello! Great app.

Do you think you could tweak it a little for kayakers? There are a LOT of kayakers in the world. I suspect more than there are rowers. But are the nuts about the data? Good question. Regardless, I'd be willing to pay $5 for a kayak specific version of your app.

On the listserve Paddlewise.net there has been an international discussion about effective paddle lengths, Greenland vs. euro paddles, and form issues. We have been discussing a strain gauge equipped paddle and a missing link has been the effect on the boat. Hmm.. how to mound a three axis accelerometer? So I'm looking around and find your app. Brilliant! I also found an app that would display the accelerometer data directly, and the MyTouch? phone is so sensitive I could set it on my belly and watch my breaths with my heart beat superimposed on the trace.

Anyway, kayaking strokes are not as obvious as rowing strokes, and I had to reduce the min power to it's smallest value to make the stroke bars visible. but that worked well. Are there other changes I should make in the settings to make it more appropriate for a kayaker?

Would it be of interest to you to have a setting for the mounting of the unit for a forward facing paddler? I wore my device in a waterproof bag on my stomach held in place by my spray skirt. It recorded my paddle and I can replay it, but I would like to watch my stroke power as I alter my form and experiment in real time with paddle grip, angle, catch location etc. This would of course be facilitated by being able to read the values while facing forward.

Is it possible that the graphs can be used as they are but I just need to alter or reverse the interpretation of them? I have not spent much time thinking about the rowing issues and may not be thinking about the charts properly. I HAVE spent a lot of time looking at telemetry traces on IndyCars?, so thinking about charted data is pretty natural once it's clear what the lines mean.
